The Union of the Snakeyes: A Roller Derby Wedding

Thursday, September 1, 2011

Ah, the Great Roller Derby Wedding.  It seems like just yesterday we were trying to figure out how to walk a processional in high heels across a regulation banked track without major injury.  (Answer: strategically placed industrial rubberized floor mats!)  Now we’re wishing Robin (aka Suzy Snakeyes of the LA Derby Dolls) and Mike a very happy first anniversary!

To take a look back at this extraordinarily personalized event, we need to start at the beginning.  You can either watch the video of the Halftime Proposal. Or, if you’re short on time, you can simply enjoy this version which was fashioned out of chocolate cake:

After that magnificent proposal, it was a given that the track would be the perfect place for the ceremony.

Then came the challenge of adding a little roller derby to the wedding…

…and putting a little wedding in the roller derby!

With so much space at their disposal, the reception possibilities were endless: Rolling Grand Entrance – Check!

Dinner and dancing for 200 guests – Check!

Separate casino room complete with “Suzy Snakeyes” craps table - Check!

Even a second (and unbelievably delicious) cake!

Last but not least, let’s not forget Nom-Kitty gift card box!  Why?  Because the bride made him with her own two hands and…well…he’s awesome!

So, once again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ROBIN & MIKE!  We wish you much love and happiness as you roll through the years to come!
